Hugh grew up in Woods Hole, steeped in that scientific environment and the natural world of wind and waves. College brought him to Middlebury and he has not yet escaped the Green Mountain state’s gravitational field for very long. He came to VCE with a long history of fundraising experience in public radio, education, and conservation. He has held leadership roles in non-profit organizations up and down the Connecticut River Valley and has offered consulting services to clients hither and yon. In years past, he found time to lead expeditions to ski the headwall at Tuckerman Ravine and, more recently, to navigate urban adventures in Kathmandu. Hugh lives next to a vernal pool in Walpole NH (on a ridge overlooking Vermont) with his family, pets, and a voluminous array of visiting critters including moose, bear, bobcat, coyote, deer, fox plus a seasonal community chorus of frogs.
