Rachel grew up on an off-the-grid homestead in Humboldt County, California with her father, an engineer who ran a solar business and her mother, who was an environmental lawyer. She spent her childhood gaining an appreciation for nature and a love of books, and as a young adult transplanted herself to Michigan, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies from the University of Michigan, along with a Creative Writing Minor. After receiving her degree, she transplanted once more to Vermont, where she served for as an AmeriCorps member at the Department of Environmental Conservation’s Clean Water Program and VCE. She now works part-time and remotely in support of the VCE communications program. In her free time, you’ll find Rachel curled up with a book and a cup of tea.
