Alyssa brings a deep-rooted passion for ecology, sustainability, and community to the VCE development team. Her interest in ecology and conservation began at an early age as her parents shared their love for marine ecosystems with her. Over time, Alyssa’s love for ecology morphed into a passion for farming and managing agroecosystems. Prior to joining VCE, Alyssa owned a specialty cut flower farm, taught garden and food education in elementary schools, worked on trail crews, grew vegetables on farms around the country, worked in after-school programs, and completed wildlife surveys for the Forest Service. Throughout her journey, her experiences in various program roles in nonprofits inspired her to explore a career in nonprofit development.
Alyssa holds a Master’s in Sustainable Food Systems, along with Bachelor’s degrees in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology and Neuroscience.
Outside of work, you’ll likely find Alyssa spending time with her family, tending her garden, exploring outdoors, playing a good board game, or diving into one of her many creative hobbies.
