Data Manager
VCE is looking to add a Data Manager to our Data team. Responsibilities include designing and maintaining research databases, developing data management tools, and preparing large complex datasets for analysis. We seek applicants with a demonstrated enthusiasm for ecology and data management, an analytical mindset with problem-solving skills, and strong organizational skills. Summer Internships 
Each year, VCE hosts a cohort of individuals early in their ecology careers to gain hands-on experience on research and conservation projects. Below are two of our annual internship opportunities. Application submission typically opens in the first quarter of each year, and positions begin in early summer. Keep an eye on our “current openings” for internship announcements.
Alexander Dickey Conservation Internship
The Alexander Dickey Conservation Internship was launched in 2016 in tribute to Alex’s legacy. Above all else, we seek to advance the career trajectories of promising young conservation biologists who are eager to grow and develop as professionals, who will apply the skills they gain in their internship to make a difference, and who express a personal connection to nature that reflects the solace and delight it offered to Alexander. Future Ecologist Internship
As ecologists, we know that both ecological communities and organizations are strongest and most
resilient when they are most diverse. However, we have much work to do to create and sustain diversity and equity in the field of ecology itself—one of the least diverse fields of science. As an organization that aims to “unite people and science for conservation,” we recognize that to advance that goal, we must create a culture that celebrates diversity, fosters inclusivity, and values dissenting opinions and rigorous examination within our own community. With those goals in mind, the Vermont Center for Ecostudies (VCE) offers our Future Ecologists internship intended to create opportunities for students underrepresented in the field of ecology. We encourage students who are Black, Indigenous, or people of color to apply as well as those who can demonstrate how they add diversity to the field of ecology beyond race. This internship provides an opportunity for two aspiring ecologists to join VCE in several research and conservation initiatives each summer.
