With the launch of a new field season here at VCE, our office staff and far-flung biologists find themselves even more organized now that we’ve hired Shelly Melendy as our new administrative assistant.
A born multi-tasker, Shelly will help orchestrate the operations of an organization growing with varied achievements in the field and here at our Norwich headquarters.
“Shelly demonstrates a steady hand, a range of competencies and a personable style, which means she’s a great fit,” said Chris Rimmer, VCE’s executive director. “And if anyone can whip me into shape, she will!”
In addition to coordinating Chris’ calendar and other activities, Shelly will organize special events, support our development activities, and serve as an administrative liason to our Board of Directors and Advisory Council.
Shelly was born and raised in the New England, with a love for nature that has grown steadily since childhood. Her recent work experience includes serving as office manager for two local wood distributors and as a patient access support specialist at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Shelly spends her free time volunteering at the local humane society, walking her two dogs, working on home improvement projects with her husband Terry, and enjoying their daughter Aubrey.
“The recent growth of VCE’s programs and operations reflects our strong success, but has added inevitable complexities and challenges to our operations,” Rimmer said. “Shelly’s skills will help the office run more smoothly as we continue to grow and to succeed.”
