Gary Meffe received his BS and MS from Rutgers University and his Ph.D. from Arizona State University, all in Zoology. He has expertise in evolutionary ecology, stream fish ecology, and conservation biology. He is co-author of two college textbooks, Principles of Conservation Biology and Ecosystem Management: Adaptive, Community-based Conservation, and co-Editor of Ecology and Evolution of Livebearing Fishes (Poeciliidae). He is former Editor-in-Chief of the international journal Conservation Biology, and lives in Brandon, VT. He has recently explored non-science writing and is author of two popular books: Van Cortland Chronicles. A Celebration of Life in a Small Vermont Town (2014) and a novel, The Wizard of Odd. A Vermont Tale of Community Devotion (2019).
