Jared S. Keyes is a Limited Partner of Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. (BBH), having retired as a general partner in 2016 after a 22 year career with the firm. He is a 1979 graduate of Concord Academy, and a 1984 graduate of Harvard College where he received a degree in East Asian Languages & Civilizations, and spent a year abroad studying Mandarin Chinese at Tunghai University in Taiwan. He still speaks Chinese fluently and visits Asia regularly to visit friends, family, and, of course, birds.
Jared is an avid lifelong birder and conservationist. In addition to serving as Vice Chair and Treasurer of the board of the Vermont Center for Ecostudies, he serves on the advisory councils of Massachusetts Audubon and The Fenn School. While living in NYC with Brown Brothers, he was active at NYC Audubon, acting as treasurer of the board, citizen science volunteer, and as a birdwatching field trip leader in Central Park. He is still active leading bird walks and speaking at events for both the Brookline Bird Club and the Essex County Ornithological Club, both in Massachusetts. Now a semi-professional bird photographer, Jared sells his images to content providers, and operates free educational bird galleries on Facebook and Instagram under the names @jskbirds, @jskpajaros, and @jskpassaros, publishing his images and accompanying text commentaries concurrently in English, Spanish and Portuguese with the goal of linking the people so the Americas through their shared love of birds. He is up to nearly a quarter million followers across all his platforms, including 50k in Brazil alone.
Jared resides in Belmont, MA with his wife Songmei, and summers in North Hero on Lake Champlain in VT.
