2024 was a year of remarkable evolution for the Vermont Center for Ecostudies. Thanks to you—our steadfast volunteers, donors, and partners—we’ve scaled up our ambitions and our capacity intentionally and decisively. The result is a more impactful VCE, ready to meet this moment of urgent conservation need with renewed energy, deeper expertise, and a larger, more inclusive community of collaborators.

VAL 10th Anniversary Report
The Vermont Atlas of Life 10th Anniversary Report synthesizes VAL’s efforts over the last decade of gathering data to help establish a biodiversity baseline for Vermont. This report uses nearly 8 million primary biodiversity occurrence records, totaling almost 12,000 verified species recorded across Vermont—all curated at the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) and searchable using the VAL Data Explorer.
State of Vermont’s Wild Bees
With over 350 species in Vermont, wild bees are a diverse and ecologically important insect group, providing crucial pollination services. Over the past decade, thousands of community scientists and professional biologists have helped us to survey wild bees across Vermont, allowing us to assess their conservation status for the first time.
