Field Update: Mountain Birdwatch

June 29, 2018 by Jason Hill (he/him)  |  1 response

Hike Mountains. Count Birds. Be Merry.

Jason Hill takes advantage of a spate of rainy weather to climb down from the mountains and shed light on the status of VCE’s Mountain Birdwatch project. It is impressive: stats like “127 routes” and “20,000 point counts” are invoked. Kudos and heartfelt thanks to our hale and hardy MBW citizen scientists! Watch Jason’s update and prepare to be impressed.

Want to join in the adventure and contribute to science? You don’t have to be an expert birder – just enthusiastic. Learn more and inquire about available routes for the 2019 Mountain Birdwatch season on the MBW Participate page.

Jason is a quantitative ecologist with the Vermont Center for Ecostudies (VCE). who has been studying grassland bird populations for the last decade. Here at VCE, Jason leads research investigations into the ecology of animal migration and montane ecology, and Jason hosts the popular local science discussion series, Suds & Science.
