Emily has worn several hats with VCE already, her latest one being Science to Policy Manager. In this role, she tracks the world of conservation policy, and helps VCE’s science reach decision-makers.

Ever since her childhood spent exploring the woods and fields of Addison County, Vermont, Emily has been fascinated by the natural world and the intricate relationships that exist there. As a student at the University of Maine, she received a B.S. in Ecology and Environmental Science, with a concentration in ecosystem ecology.

After assisting with numerous research projects—studying everything from shark ecology and fish physiology to forest ecology and endangered bats—Emily decided that she wanted to better understand the ways that science and policy fit together to further conservation goals. In 2019, she completed a master’s degree in environmental law and policy at Vermont Law School, where she maintained a broad focus on endangered species policy, public land management, agriculture policy, and climate change adaptation.

If not working away on her computer, you can likely find Emily adventuring on wooded trails with her husband and dogs, experimenting in the kitchen, or working on her horse riding skills.
