Jill is joining VCE as the Butterfly Atlas Technician. She is a behavioral ecologist and an enthusiastic community scientist. She holds a PhD in Biology from the University of Texas at Arlington, an MS in Zoology from Oregon State University, and a BA in Zoology from Connecticut College.
Before moving to Vermont four years ago, Jill spent most of her career teaching biology and environmental science to college undergraduates while moonlighting as an educator in science museum settings. Since moving to Southeastern Vermont, she has become involved with several local nonprofits including the Connecticut River Conservancy and Bonnyvale Environmental Education Center.
Jill lives in a yurt with her partner, Charles, who built their home and off-grid systems with his own hands. She loves taking pictures and video (especially of wildlife), along with kayaking, traveling, and board games.
