Amber Jones

Staff Biologist

Amber started at VCE as a tick technician for the Upper Valley Tick Project in 2023, helping to implement and manage protocols and data collection. As a staff biologist, she now assists with the Native Plant Ecotype Experiment, the 2nd Vermont Butterfly Atlas, the Wild Bees on Farms project, and the Pollinators Interactions on Plants project. She collects and analyzes phenology and insect data, identifies and processes insects, helps with outreach to volunteers and property owners, and scours the state for butterflies, bees, and other pollinators. Her passion for insect ecology led her to discover a new-to-Vermont insect, the Lunate Longhorn-cuckoo Bee (Triepeolus lunatus).

Amber received her undergraduate degree in Resource Ecology with a minor in Wildlife Biology from the University of Vermont. In her spare time, you can find Amber chasing insects, reading, and spending time outdoors with her family.
