Dana (she/her) is the Community Science Coordinator at VCE, where she works to connect Vermont communities and local organizations with VCE’s research through general outreach, volunteer recruitment/training, and closing the loop on community science by making sure that volunteers learn about the results of their hard work!
She currently spends her time working with volunteers of the Second Vermont Butterfly Atlas, Vermont Vernal Pool Projects, Vermont Atlas of Life, and Forest Bird Monitoring Program and coordinates the LoonWeb digitization project for the Vermont Loon Conservation Project.
She holds a B.A. in Biology from Wellesley College and a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from UCLA. She previously spent time working with the Kalahari Meerkat Project and at the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory. Before joining VCE, Dana worked as the Programs Director for Williamstown Rural Lands, a small land trust in Massachusetts, where she ran programs to connect people of all ages with their local environment.
Dana lives in Lyme, NH. When not meeting up with community members, she can be found investigating local New England history, hitting the xc ski trails or looking for cool ferns and butterflies.
